The Purple Hair Incident

I like to color my hair. My husband would probably say it's more of an obsession. The first time I went from drastically blonde to a very dark brunette, my son took one look at me, and started hysterically crying. He said I was not his mom and he wanted his real mom to come back. Not sure if it was traumatic for him, or he just got a touch of my dramatic side.

This is a fake smile- he was still mad at me so I bribed him by taking him mini-golfing.

Before I show you my newest unsuccessful results, I'm going to take you back in time. To 2002. I was young, dumb, and aiming to be a sexy red-head. Fail. I initially turned my hair bubble-gum pink and had to go to finals looking like a crayon. This not-much-better result was the last time I tried red for a good many years.

LOOK AT IT! Not just the hair color, but the style! What what I thinking???

Anyway, I got a pastel purple hair color a while ago and had been getting up the courage to use it. I forgot to take a picture of the box, but here's the googled version:

I'm not unrealistic; i knew my hair wouldn't turn out quite so magical, but the results were no where near even my least-magical thoughts. So here it is...

Rather anti-climatic, right? A couple notes about the photos. In the second picture, as I was taking a selfie, Micah can be seen climbing sideways across Cayden's car seat to retrieve a toy. He ended up getting stuck and fell out of the car onto the church parking lot. Graceful, just like his mama.

In the third picture, Ezra is proudly modeling his medal from the 5k we ran on Saturday morning. And by 'ran a 5k', I mean Chase pushed the stroller with the boys until the last 100 feet, at which time Ezra was screaming for me to hold him, and Cayden climbed out to make his running debut. Good times.

So tomorrow I have some very exciting news that I've been working on for over a month now. I'd really like some support on this- change isn't easy for me. Truthfully, I find it terrifying. But I'm putting on my big girl panties and taking a leap of faith!

Love, Susanne
